In thinking about what to write regarding the history of women, I decided to write about women who believed they could make a difference in a world that considered them to be less than; physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Girls, ladies, women, I’m here to assure you that we run the world! We are the perfect balance this world needs to prevent its implosion. Collectively, our voices, passion, nurturing abilities, patience, compassion, empathy, support, humility, loyalty, resilience, creativity, and brilliance have raised and sustained countless generations.
As Black History is the backbone of American History, Women’s History is the backbone of
“His story”. Without rehashing the creation story (Genesis 2:18), God created a woman because He said, “It is not good that the man should be alone…” God set the tone, ladies! An Omnipotent and Omniscient God knew the value of women and that men should not be alone. God chose us to be carriers! That’s both truth and a testimony. I could make this post about a few famous women who have done phenomenal things:
Mae Jemison, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Kamala Harris, Maya Angelou, Stacy Abrams, Maxine Waters, Alice Walker, Tony Morrison, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Ava DuVernay, Halle Berry, Sonia Sotomayor, Tarana Burke, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Leana Waithe, India Arie, Rashida Tlaib, Sahle-Work Zewde, Tsai Ing-wen, Sarah Thomas, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms
The purpose for writing this post is to encourage you to include yourself in this remarkable list. It does not yet appear who you shall become. If you keep dreaming, praying, believing, moving, and availing yourself to the gifts God has planted inside you—there will be no limits to the impact they will have over your life, household, circle of influence, and chain of people God is sending your way. Whatever gifts you possess, God selected you to carry and birth. Keep in mind, you are not the only one with that gift; however, you are the only woman who can, uniquely, present it to others in a way that no one else can. Don’t be afraid of what others will say, don’t be too shy to share, don’t wait for someone else’s permission, and don’t allow the fear of perfection or criticism to keep your gift hidden. God’s gift to you is His gift to this world; the world is waiting for their gift.
Imagine that a friend bought you a special gift, but depended on another friend to deliver it to you. The giver of the gift is excited for you to receive and use it; however, the one who is holding it is taking their time to give it to you. On several occasions, you ask when they will deliver your gift, but they continue to make excuses about why they haven’t and broken promises about when they will. How frustrating would that be? Could you, potentially, be the one holding the gift hostage? Did God give you something for me and this world that you refuse to release or deliver? Don’t you dare hoard a gift that wasn’t meant for you to keep! It’s time to DELIVER!
